Amidst soaring temperatures and elevated humidity levels, students nationwide are preparing for an upcoming academic year that promises challenges beyond the realm of textbooks and exams.

The heatwave that has settled over the country has raised concerns about how these young minds will cope in the hot classrooms. But there’s a glimmer of hope in the form of cooling relief.

Ahead of the 2022 school year, a nationwide campaign rallied citizens to donate fans to schools, providing a much-needed breeze to both students and staff members during their lessons. The gesture was a testament to the community’s commitment to the wellbeing of its future generation.

This year, as the school doors prepare to swing open once again, there’s good news on the horizon. Lionel Hurst, the Chief of Staff in the Office of The Prime Minister, recently shed light on the government’s approach to battling the heatwave within the classroom walls.

Speaking on the matter, Hurst simple pledged “more fans.”

However, while the addition of fans is a welcome step towards alleviating the heat-related discomfort, Hurst acknowledged a limitation when it comes to more advanced cooling solutions.

He said: “at this time we are unable to place air conditioners within the schools. They are just too large and too many.”
