In a significant development in a recent homicide case, Kareem Simon, was remanded to prison for allegedly stabbing 66-year-old Dennis Edwards from Bolans to death.
Simon was charged with murder on Thursday and made his initial appearance in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court this morning.
The incident in question transpired on August 21, shortly after 8 pm on Lower All Saints Road.
The 42-year-old Simon, a resident of Green Bay, is believed to have been involved in a fatal altercation with Edwards. Tragically, Edwards was found on the ground with stab wounds to his upper body, and his life could not be saved.
The court remanded him to His Majesty’s Prison as he awaits his next court hearing.
This step in the legal process will allow time for further investigations and preparations for the committal proceedings.
Edwards was the country’s fourth murder victim for 2023.
Since his demise, another man, 24-year-old Keneca Ryan succumbed to injuries he sustained in a shooting.
