Prime Minister Gaston Browne has expressed condolences to Adam Stewart, following the death of his wife Jill
Adam is the Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International and the Appliance Traders Group. His wife Jill died after a long battle with Cancer.
“My dear friend Adam, I have learned of the battle with cancer by your wife, Jill, and her death on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Please accept the deepest condolences of the people and Government of Antigua and Barbuda on this tragic ending of a beautiful life,” Browne wrote
Browne said in his letter that the inspiration which drives many men is triggered by the love and affection which flows within their family circle.
“I have discerned from your public pronouncements that Jill was very important to you and your three children. I feel your pain and so too does the Antiguan contingent of the Sandals’ employees here. I am aware that the decisions which you have made recently reflect the growing importance of the Sandals group of companies to several countries in the Caribbean. Grieving always impacts decision-making. I wish you all the best in the near future. With my sympathies and condolences,” Browne wrote.
Adam broke the news on various social media platforms over the weekend, saying on Instagram to his 116,000 followers that it is almost unimaginable that it has come to this.
“Still, with unbearable grief and a broken heart, I let you know that my wife Jill, the love of my life, my best friend of 28 years, and mother of our three wonderful children passed away peacefully and surrounded by love,”
“Opening herself to this community was brave and generous. Just like Jill,” shared Adam. “She remained deeply touched by your words of comfort and she hoped her story would serve to impact and protect others in the pursuit of prevention,” he added.
Adam is the son of the late Jamaican businessman Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness also expressed tribute to Adam, saying that the passing of Jill “is a devastating blow that has left us all with a profound sense of grief.”
“We grieve with you, and we are here to provide comfort, strength, and solace in the face of your immense loss,” Holness wrote
Deepest condolences to Mr. Stewart and family. May the Almighty comfort you all in this moment and may your loved one rest in eternal peace.
