Woman says she paid $51k in 2020 to clear a Backhoe but hasn’t received it

A businesswoman in Barbuda has sought the assistance of the police after she said she deposited $51,000 into the account of a heavy-duty business service company located in Antigua to clear a Backhoe from the Port but has been given the runaround by the owner

The woman said she deposited the money between November 2020 and January 2023 to clear the Case Backhoe that she imported from Miami which arrived in December 2022.

She further stated that up to the time of making this report, she hasn’t received her equipment or monies.

The woman told the police the owner of the company is unable to give a proper explanation as to why her equipment is still at the Port, and keep promising her that he is going to clear the same but, never did.

However, he stated that some of the monies were not used for the intended purpose. She also provided me with several documents for investigation purposes.

Police are investigating the matter.
