Social media has been flowing with messages of condolences after news broke that Don Official Richards had died.

Richards, a pioneer, and forerunner in Antigua’s entertainment industry died on Tuesday after being in a US hospital with an illness.

Deejays and those in the entertainment sector expressed how much of an impact Richards had on the music industry

His name became synonymous with the promotion of dancehall music at the very height of the music’s popularity in Antigua.

Richards had been in a wheelchair for many years but that did not prevent him from promoting dancehall music and other genres.

​People on social media said he would be remembered for his charismatic personality. In fact, they said it was his personality that drew them to him.

Richard owned a retail store and also a club. included the ownership of a club and a retail business.
