A committee organized to advise the government on how to waver work permits for CARICOM and Dominican Republic Nationals are structured has been received by the Cabinet.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne had promised to waive work permits for these nationals during the election campaign

The government says to do that, an amendment to the existing law is required, and “so too will be the regulations governing the issuance of work permit”

According to Thursday’s Cabinet notes, the draft legislation is to be submitted to “a team in the Ministry of Legal Affairs and brought to Cabinet and then to the Parliament, within a matter of weeks”

Every effort according to the government is being made to ensure this campaign promise is kept.
