Vincentian police head to Saint Lucia to help fight gang violence

Members of the police force in St Vincent and the Grenadines, six of them, are heading to Saint Lucia to help Castries fight against gang violence there.

That’s according to Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves who said that the Government of Saint Lucia has “requested from the Regional Security System (RSS) of which St Vincent and the Grenadines is a part, to lend some security assistance”

The Commissioner of Police in St Vincent has already had consultations with the officers and will send six police officers and will be on a rotational schedule.

The Vincentian officers will be under the command of the Commissioner of Police for Saint Lucia.  

Gonsalves noted that in Saint Lucia there is a big upsurge, and in the judgment of Saint

St Lucia has seen an upsurge in criminal activities over the past few weeks with over 10 people dying as a result of gun-related violence
