14-year-old Dario Thompson is a patient at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center following an accident on Easter Sunday

According to reports, Thompson was the passenger in a vehicle being driven at the time by 24-year-old Gerard Byron of Clare Hall.

It is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to slam into a utility pole. The vehicle reportedly split in two in the Valley Church area.

According to reports from the traffic department, the incident happened just before midnight on Saturday.

Over the Easter Holiday weekend, about ten accidents were reported according to the Head of the Traffic Department, Superintendent Elson Quammie

Quammie said police patrol was increased on the road during the holidays.

“Our presence on the road kept accidents to a minimum. It is clear that the police vigilance worked,” he remarked.
