At least two earthquakes have been reported in Antigua and Barbuda over the past two days.
Last night, a magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported south of Antigua and Barbuda and on Sunday, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake was reported North northeast of the twin island nation
Last night’s shaking occurred at 11:56 with a depth at a depth of 16 km, according to the Automatic Earthquake Location from UWI Seismic Research Center.
The UWI RSC said the quake struck 50 km South of Saint John’s. It was also felt in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Meanwhile, there were several earthquakes reported in the Caribbean over the weekend according to the UWI SRC.
On Sunday, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake was reported North northeast of Antigua and Barbuda around 5:49 am and a few hours later, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake was reported southeast of Guadeloupe around 7:22 am.
Earthquakes were also felt in Jamaica.
There have been concerns that the Caribbean could experience a major earthquake in the future.
