Sister B is 101 today

29 May 2023 - 08:57

Louisa Simon 29.May.1922 from Yorks now resides in NY

What are you going to be doing when you’re 100?… Well, that’s probably not a fair question to ask of those of us in our 50s or older as we probably won’t see 100. Or we just might.

But for Louisa “Sister B” or “Ms. Baby” Simon, that question is very relevant as she is celebrating 101 years today and she’s in good spirits, according to her loved ones.

She was born on May 29 in St. John’s, Antigua to parents Mary Brand and Mark Simon now both deceased.

Let’s call her Ms. Baby since the ring to that name is just as loving, honest, and caring as she has been described in her family

“She grew up in Cedar Grove but later moved to All Saints village where she worked as a housemaid for some time.  She also dabbled in some farming and gardening.  She then moved to Yorks village where she resided for most of her years before migrating to the Bronx, New York where she now resides,” according to her family.

Her family said she has a love for God which could have been seen in her behavior over the years.

“She could always be heard and seen spreading the word of God to those in her community and beyond before migrating to the US.  It was those same positive character traits that ‘Sister B’ instilled in her eight (8) children Leroy Ford, Rufus James (deceased), Hellen O’Garro-Harris, George Dunning, Jerome Dunning-Simon, Alico O’Garro, Sharon O’Garro, and Jenese O’Garro while raising them on her own”, her children added.

Her children wrote that despite being a single mother, she was a “true caregiver, ensured that food was always on the table and clothes on our backs and education was a priority in our household.  It was a job she took very seriously”

Ma Baby has 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren

“Her love, kindness, and generosity towards others is something that has come to bless her tenfold as she was able to see her bloodline grow through four generations.  She is the best mom you can ever have in your corner. We her children and grandchildren of four generations wishes her God’s blessings and we want to let everyone know that we could not have made it without her”, they wrote

Adding, mom, thank you for all the sacrifices you made for us when you had no other help but God.
