A masked man has reportedly walked into the Antigua Port Authority taking several packages from a specific barrel, then disappearing into thin air.

Two security guards at the Port told police that at around 2:45 a.m yesterday, the perpetrator who was a slim male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a black mask, long black pants, and a grey long-sleeved hooded shirt entered the premises illegally

One of the officers said he shouted to the masked man what was he doing on the compound.

“Me come to collect a package “the masked man replied, continuing to walk in a south-easterly direction until the security lost sight of him.

A search was carried out in the area for anyone fitting the description without success.

Police say having viewed the surveillance cameras at the Port Warehouse they observed a masked man using two pieces of 2×4 lumber to pry open the mentioned door.

Having done so the intruder entered the said warehouse and reportedly stole several packages from a barrel that was located in the western section of the said warehouse.

Police say after further examination of the said compound they saw where some unknown person apparently used a sharp cutting tool to cut out a section of the eastern perimeter fencing to gain entry onto the compound.

The perpetrator then reportedly used force to pry open door No. 9 of the Warehouse and stole the mentioned packages from a barrel.

The exit was made via point of entry and a search was carried out in the surrounding areas for persons fitting the description without success.

The value of the stolen items is yet to be ascertained.

  2. Barrels are not shipped without a destination address and name—the manifest document for all shipping cargo has all the necessary information. The authorities at Port know who the barrels belong to and where they are coming from. Shipments coming from, especially large countries, are scanned before being put on a plane or cargo ship.
