Teenager Remanded to Prison for Multiple Robberies
The Child Justice Board has ruled that the 17-year-old charged with robbery in three separate incidents be remanded to His Majesty’s Prison, pending his trial.
The minor whose name cannot be made public appeared before the Child Justice Board today Monday, for his initial inquiry.
He has also been charged with robbery in connection with two previous break-ins on April 11 in Villa and May 14 at Campsite.
The teenager, from Villa, has been charged with “Robbery and Shooting with Intent to cause Grievous Bodily Harm’.
It is alleged that he and another teenage boy held up and robbed the Secretary of the St Joseph’s Academy on June 4, using a flare gun to injure him in the process.
Meanwhile, the other youngster, a 16-year-old from Paynters was taken into custody on Sunday as the second suspect in that incident. He has not yet been charged but police say he is being questioned.
The police have reason to believe that these two men were those seen in a surveillance camera located at the school, which showed footage of two boys committing the robbery and subsequent shooting.
