Whales and Dolphins are keeping Team Antigua Island Girls company as they battle the headwinds and ocean currents intent on pushing them back to the coast.

The expected early days of seasickness is also setting in, according to the latest information posted on their official Facebook page.

The team reported that Christal Clashing and Samara Emanuel are less affected than Team Captain Kevinia Francis, who is trying different remedies.

“It’s brutal out there, with the adjustment to the shifts, sleep deprivation, and the elements, but this is what the team expected and trained for. #justkeeprowing.,” the post read.

The Island Girls are among a team of 20 who are participating in the inaugural Pacific Challenge which started June 12th.

The race kicked off from the historic Harbour of Monterey and will follow the path of many adventures and explores of yesteryear. The finish line is the island of Kauai Hawaii.

This is the second water adventure for the team which made history in 2019 by becoming the first all-female all-black Caribbean to complete the Talisker Whiskey Challenge, which culminated at the historic Nelson’s Dockyard, which is a UNESCO world heritage site.

They are rowing for a cause- the establishment of a home for girls in conflict with the law. To participate in the cause residents and others could donate at antigua-island-girlsback-on-the-row-again and Caribbean Union Bank, Acct # 20004631.
