Consistency was the order of the day for Ruez Titre of the St Joseph Academy who walked away with the crown in the 13 to 18 category of the 2023 Smalta Junior Calypso Monarch Competition Sunday night.
Prior to this he also placed 1st in the Mr. and Miss Teenage Pageant.
Immediately after the show, he said the preparation was really stressful and he was elated that it is all over. The young man said his focus would be to go home and get some much-needed rest, and prepare to immerse himself for the remainder of the festival.
He said aside from pageantry and calypso he is focused on becoming, “A very prestigious member of the society in a variety of things and I intend to become a known household name in the Caribbean,” Titre said.
Prisca “Calypso P” Neptune and Noah “African Prince” Yeboah took the 1st and 2nd place position in the 13 to 18 category.
Jai’ Liah Empress Buchanan was the judge’s choice in the 5 to 12 category of the competition. She won the round with her rendition of the song Dousing Me House”
Nicholas “Mighty Nick” Perry and Lena “Calypso Lily” Mills were judged first and second runners in the same category. Empress Buchanan said she was excited about her accomplishment
