On Thursday, a Hero Humanitarian Award ceremony was held at Government House, where several exceptional individuals were recognized.

The Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams, bestowed awards upon Carmen Antonio (Service Medal Award – Gold), M.D Vincent Benjamin (Service Medal Award – Silver), Superintendent of Police Lisborn Michael (Service Medal Award – Silver), and Hilson Joseph (Service Medal Award – Bronze).

Romancia Edwards was also honored with the Halo Foundation Hero Humanitarian Award for her outstanding contributions to society. During the ceremony, Sir Rodney Williams praised the recipients for their unwavering dedication, selflessness, and profound commitment to Antigua and Barbuda.

He acknowledged the exceptional achievements and contributions of the five remarkable individuals, including four outstanding individuals who received the Governor General Faithful and Meritorious Service Awards.

He commended the recipients for leaving an indelible mark on society and embodying the essence of pride, honor, and dignity in their service to the nation. Sir Rodney Williams congratulated the recipients and urged them to continue serving God and country with the same passion, dedication, and spirit that have earned them this well-deserved recognition.

Carmen Antonio was recognized for her exceptional work at APUA Credit Union, where she grew the organization from 70 to 300 members as the sole staff member while maintaining her job as an accountant with the statutory body. Melvin Dalton Vincent Benjamin was honored for his over 40 years of service in public education, where he positively impacted the lives of many.

Superintendent of Police Lisborn Wendel Christopher Michael was acknowledged for his over thirty-four years of service in the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda, particularly in the Criminal Investigations Department. Hilson Glanville Joseph received his award for his faithfulness to the nation, particularly in promoting national pride.

Romancia Edwards was recognized for her compassion, selflessness, and care for others, which she exhibited from an early age. She assists individuals or families in need every month and mentors and tutors’ youths within her community.

Overall, the ceremony was a momentous occasion to celebrate and pay tribute to exceptional individuals who have touched the lives of countless others in remarkable ways.
