Xander Pay has generously provided two scholarships to support needy students in attending the Five Islands Campus of the University of the West Indies.
XandaPay, a Fintech company’s flagship product, is a Payroll and Human Resources Management software that streamlines operations for various clients and companies.
During the handing-over ceremony, Jeffry Alexander Dupuis, the developer of XandaPay, stated that the XandaPay Youth Empowerment Scholarship was created to give back to the community and provide an opportunity that transcends time.
He emphasized that it’s a timeless gift that keeps on giving, despite sounding clichéd.
“After exploring many ideas, we found consensus on this one – investing in the education of your youth. It is my view, and that of our company – XandaPay Limited – that education is not just a bridge but a key. A key that can unlock doors of opportunities, bringing the seemingly unattainable within grasp and propelling individuals to ascend the ladder of social mobility,” he said
Moreover, Dupuis said it was his company’s view that the power of education extends beyond the individual.
As one person rises, they often lift those around them, creating a ripple effect that resonates through families and communities. When we initially engaged the University, we had no idea that our actions would have attracted the attention of His Excellency. As a matter of fact, we wanted to do it as quietly as possible, you know, – operate in the shadows,” he explained
Adding, “however, on the call we had to finalize our commitment, one of the individuals mentioned that she had contacted His Excellency and that He was so pleased and offered to facilitate a formal handover ceremony”.
Meanwhile, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams received the scholarships and took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of UWI Five Islands.
He said the XandaPay Youth Empowerment Scholarship is a profound initiative that aligns perfectly with our shared belief that investing in education enriches individual lives and propels our society forward.
“The XandaPay “Youth Empowerment” Scholarship is a profound initiative that aligns perfectly with our shared belief that investing in education enriches individual lives and propels our society forward. This scholarship program is designed to provide full tuition support to two exceptional students, one male and one female, who not only exhibit outstanding academic merit but also face financial challenges in pursuing their education” he said
Sir Rodney says over the course of three years, XandaPay’s contribution will exceed 60,000 EC dollars, bolstering the UWI Global Campus’ Endowment Fund and leaving an enduring impact on our community,” he said.
