Superintendent of Police Rodney Ellis in Antigua and Barbuda has declared Police Week 2023 a success.
The event was celebrated under the theme “With Pride and Dignity, We are Working Together With Our Community” and concluded with a family fun day and sporting activities at Ffryes Beach on Sunday.
Ellis noted that the public turnout at Sunday’s event clearly indicated the positive relationship between law enforcement and the community.
“All the events were well attended, and we received full support from the public. Today, at the climax of the event, persons showed up in support of the police. This demonstrates that we are getting the support we need from the public in safeguarding Antigua and Barbuda. This is what we aim to foster during police week,” Ellis stated.
The week-long celebration began with a church service at the Sweetes Wesleyan Holiness Church on September 10.
This year’s Police Week also saw the introduction of the Police King Show, which was a huge success. Corporal Jain Benta emerged as the winner of the inaugural Police King Show. Plans are underway to stage another such show next year.
Ellis emphasized that the annual Police Week celebration, which has been happening for 55 years, serves as a reminder of the importance of public safety and the fight against crime and illegal activities.
He thanked the public for their continued support and called on them to keep supporting the police in their efforts to safeguard Antigua and Barbuda.
