NSWMA Resumes Collection of Derelict Vehicle

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) will be collecting Derelict Vehicles in District 1 has resumed as of September 11, 2023.

This district includes the communities of Old Road, Cades Bay, Urlings, Johnson’s Point, Crabbe Hill, Bolans, Jennings, Ebenezer, Creekside, Golden Grove, Cashew Hill, Bathlodge, and Bendals.

According to Section 13 (1) of the Litter Control and Prevention Act no.3 of 2019, the local authority has the power to issue a notice to the owner or last known owner of any derelict vehicle found in any public place that causes or contributes to the defacement of the environment.

This notice requires the owner to remove the vehicle within 24 hours of receiving the notification.
