PUBLIC NOTICE: National Solid Waste to Restart Derelict Vehicle Removal Program

(File photo)

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) wishes to inform all citizens and residents that the Derelict Vehicle Removal Program will resume operations every Wednesday effective 21s May 2025.

This program is part of our ongoing effort to maintain the safety, cleanliness, and aesthetic of our community. Derelict or abandoned vehicles not only pose safety hazards but also detract from the visual appearance of our neighborhoods.

According to the Litter Control and Prevention Ac, No. 3 of 2019, Section 13 (1), it states that “Where any derelict vehicle is left in any public place in such circumstances as to cause, contribute to or tend to the defacement of the environment by reason of the presence of such derelict vehicle, the local authority may give notice to the owner or last known owner of the derelict vehicle requiring him to remove the derelict vehicle from the public place within twenty-four hours of such notice.”

What You Need to Know:

* Vehicles considered derelict may include those that are inoperable, unregistered, abandoned on public property, or pose a public safety risk.

* Property owners are responsible for ensuring that any derelict vehicles on their property are removed or properly secured.

We encourage residents to report derelict vehicles by contacting the litter hotline: 727-BINS (2467) or 562-1347.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe and clean.

    • Comment *There is a green car parked infront of a fence at Old Runway with no License plate for over a year. I am told it belong to the young lady who won carnival queen last year. She has been notified but refuses to move it away.

      • hahhaha. I hope MAX HURST car is the first they go with

  2. Oh Ryan. Incase you have a slight intellectual problem. Derelict Vehicles are vehicles left abandoned for far too long. Max car may be old but it’s not abandoned. Might even be stronger than some of these 2025 Toyota Hilux.
