UPP’s Rally in Bolands Cancelled Due to TS Tammy

19 October 2023 - 16:53

The scheduled rally tonight at Bolans Playing Field, hosted by the United Progressive Party, has been canceled due to the inclement weather ahead of Tropical Storm Tammy.

The party’s leadership and candidate for St. Mary’s South, Kelvin “Shugy” Simon, have prioritized safety and canceled the much-awaited final public meeting before the upcoming by-election.

In a press statement earlier, the UPP said it would assess the situation after the storm and inform supporters of any plans for public gatherings ahead of the October 24 poll.

Meanwhile, the UPP encourages all residents to use today to prepare for the safety and security of their families, homes, and businesses.

The party advises residents to take the necessary precautions while electricity and water services remain available.

Those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas should secure their properties as far as possible and plan evacuation.

The appeal is primarily aimed at families living in the West Palm Beach area of Bolans, the Upper Fort Road and Yorks communities, Bendals and Bathlodge, Perry Bay, and other vulnerable neighborhoods in the Rural West and Rural South constituencies.

The UPP urges all residents to be careful, to stay safe indoors during the storm, and to follow the instructions of the agencies in charge of emergency management.
