Prime Minister Gaston Browne has clarified the responsibilities of Minister Dwyane George in his role as Minister of State within the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance.

On Thursday, Minister George was officially sworn in as a Senator for the second consecutive time, assuming the position of Junior Minister.

During a press briefing, Prime Minister Browne explained that Minister George’s primary role will be to provide mentorship to other members of the ministry.

This means that he will guide and support fellow ministry members, particularly those who are new to their roles or require specific guidance. “Clearly, he does not have the experience, so the whole idea is to expose him to as many areas in the Ministry of Finance for the next few months to learn as much as possible and then I will be assigning specific for him to be in

But at this time, more familiarization and training so that he can develop,” Browne said.

Meanwhile, the new Minister said he is prepared to learn on the job until his feet are properly cemented.

“My mandate is to go out and do the people’s work, work for the people of Antigua and Barbuda to improve the country’s GDP and overall economic performance,” Minister George said.
