There is good news for government pensioners, as the government has reportedly made a positive turn towards increasing their monthly payments.
This decision is in line with inflationary pressures and the loss in the value of money over time.
While the exact rate of increase has not yet been determined, negotiations and affordability will play a role, especially given the 14 percent increase over several years that current government employees are receiving.
The Ministry of Finance will assemble a team to evaluate affordability and which revenue stream can be adjusted to ensure that expenditures can be matched by revenues.
This is a positive step towards ensuring that pensioners are not left behind when it comes to receiving increases in payments.
