Charles Fernandez, Antigua and Barbuda Minister of Tourism, has expressed his excitement regarding the announcement of additional service by American Airlines.
He stated that there has been an increasing demand for flights into Antigua and Barbuda during the summer months, and the launch of the second flight comes at the most opportune time as the country is working towards boosting airlift into the destination to sustain business during the traditional shoulder season.
As of September 2023, visitor arrivals from the US market continue to reflect growth for the year.
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s US Office has completed a successful roadshow promoting the destination and promoting airlift increases alongside resort, cruise, tour operator and airline partners to over 38 cities this Fall/Winter season.
Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, is optimistic about the additional airlift coming in summer 2024 and believes it will be vital to meeting the growing demand for travel to Antigua and Barbuda. He noted that the extra service with American Airlines will provide consumers with greater travel options, allowing them to connect easily to the destination.

Discussions with other major US carriers regarding increased service for summer 2024 have also been prompted by Antigua and Barbuda’s strong summer 2023 performance within the US market.
