Three distinguished men were awarded the Governor General’s Faithful and Meritorious Award Gold for their outstanding contributions to Education and Culture, Sports, and Public Service.

The investiture ceremony took place at Government House on Tuesday morning, and the recipients, St Joseph’s Academy Principal Rudolph Davis, Bob Bailey of Salability Antigua, and Career Civil Servant Lauchland Lake, expressed their appreciation and delight for this recognition in the presence of their family, friends, and colleagues.

According to Davis, receiving this honor was a tremendous privilege, and he shared the accolade with the many people he has assisted throughout his career.

“My heart is moved with much appreciation for this award that has been bestowed upon me.  I share this with the many students I have taught and the many individuals and organizations I have collaborated with”.

Davis has been an educator for over 40 years, and his work in the performing arts is well-documented.

Bailey was awarded for dedicated service in the field of sports. He said he was feeling a lot of emotions.

“It has been a great pleasure working with my colleagues who are here from the National Sailing Academy and my wife of course. To be able to come to this country my second Home”.

Bailey founded Sailability Antigua 10 years ago to give everyone the opportunity regardless of disability.

Lake, a career civil servant, was recognized for his dedication and the many roles he played in public service since 1968.

“My heart is full of gratitude I owe so much to my dear wife”.

Lake’s contributions to the public service, sports, and election are also well documented.

Governor General Sir Rodney Williams congratulated the men for their contributions and achievements in touching the lives of many through their work.

“To all the honorees we extend our heartiest congratulations may you continue to serve God and our nation with the same passion dedication, and spirit that has brought you to this well-deserved recognition. Your selflessness and devotion serve as an inspiration to us all,” Sir Rodney stated.

The GG stated further that the work of the three men is evidence that each Antiguan and Barbudan has a positive role in society.

“As we gather here today to bestow these honors upon you, let us also reflect on the values that underpin our society: unity, compassion, and a shared commitment to wellbeing. We must also think of the wellbeing of all our citizens”, the GG added
