The House of Representatives is convening today in St. John’s to address three bills, namely the Fire and Rescue Services Bill, 2023, the Consumer Protection Bill, 2023 and the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
These measures are scheduled for their second and third readings. The meeting is also expected to include a customary agenda item, Questions to the Prime Minister, as well as the oath-taking of newly elected member Kelvin Simon.
On Thursday, Senator Dwayne George will take his Oath of Allegiance during the Senate meeting.
This is likely to be the last House of Representatives meeting before the end of the current session and the start of the new session on December 7, 2023.
The Throne Speech, outlining the government’s legislative and social agenda for the upcoming year, will be delivered to a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament.
The National Budget estimates will be delivered on December 14 by Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who holds the positions of Minister of Finance, Corporate Governance, and Public/Private Partnerships.
