We may have just witnessed a new world record being set! Carrack Jones, a fourteen-year-old sailor from Antigua and Barbuda, has just completed a daring journey that could make him the newest record holder for the longest distance sailed in an Optimist boat.

On Wednesday, this fearless competitor set sail in an Optimist sailboat, which is a small single-handed dinghy measuring just over 7 feet long. His destination? St. Maarten, a challenging journey spanning 100 nautical miles. But Jones was not deterred by the daunting task ahead of him. He was determined to make history.

After spending two grueling nights on the waves, Jones finally arrived at St. Maarten just before midnight. Though he missed his hoped-for arrival time of 5 pm on Thursday, he had still completed an incredible feat.

Now, the world waits with bated breath for verification from the yacht clubs on both ends of the journey. But one thing is for sure – Carrack Jones has already proven himself to be a true champion and an inspiration to us all.
