During the ongoing Twenty-Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had the opportunity to meet with Gaston Browne, the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The two leaders discussed various topics that are of mutual interest to the two Small Island Developing States (SIDS), including environment, climate change, and tourism cooperation.

The Prime Minister also extended an invitation to the President to attend the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States that is scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda in May 2024.

This invitation was graciously accepted by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

It is noteworthy that diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Antigua and Barbuda were established on March 25, 2002.

The President and the Prime Minister expressed their shared enthusiasm to bolster the existing diplomatic ties and foster deeper collaboration between the two countries.
