The Sir Lester Bird Medical Center is set to be fully operational by Christmas, according to Lionel Max Hurst, the government’s Chief of Staff.

At a recent Cabinet meeting, a report was presented on the state of the operating theatres at the SLBMC.

The report highlighted a number of issues, including a leaking pipe and an air conditioning duct, which had led to unhealthy conditions in the theatres.

Fortunately, Hurst provided some positive news, stating that the issues are being successfully addressed.

He further added that all the theatres are expected to be repaired and fully operational before Christmas 2023.

Hurst also explained in detail that the theatre had been undergoing repairs due to a major overhead pipe that had broken and spilled water in some of the rooms.

Additionally, the air conditioning duct that brings air into the operating room had accumulated dust and particles over the years, which had to be cleaned.

He assured the public that the repair work is almost complete and the SLBMC will soon be able to conduct operations once again.

This news will undoubtedly come as a relief to the patients and families who rely on the medical center for their healthcare needs.
