Antigua and Barbuda welcomed Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Kirk Cousins, who recently underwent stem cell treatment for a torn Achilles heel in Antigua.

The 35-year-old NFL player sought the expertise of Dr. Joey John, based on the recommendation of Dr. Chad Prodromos, a specialist in stem cell therapy with a clinic in Chicago.

Accompanied by his wife, Julie Cousins, and their 6-year-old son, Cooper Cousins, Kirk arrived in Antigua on Thursday and concluded his treatment on Friday.

Speaking to ABS, Cousins shared his purpose for seeking treatment in Antigua, stating, “I’m here in Antigua as a way to not necessarily speed up the healing process but just make sure that when I do come back, my Achilles is as strong as it can possibly be, and that I have a lot more football left in me.”

Dr. Chad Prodromos explained that the decision to choose Antigua was influenced by FDA restrictions in the United States concerning stem cell treatment. Despite these limitations, Dr. John’s expertise played a pivotal role in the decision-making process.

Dr. Prodromos also expressed admiration for Antigua, describing it as a “wonderful place.”

Kirk Cousins’ visit highlights the international appeal of Antigua as a destination for medical treatments, particularly in specialized fields such as stem cell therapy.
