The Cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda have begun the process of boosting its Wellness Tourism prospects through a stem cell manufacturing initiative.

According to notes from Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, the government has decided to take advantage of an increase in individuals traveling to the country for stem cell treatment.

Sir Steadroy Benjamin has been tasked with establishing the legal framework for this decision, as the government intends to support this sector “strictly within the parameters of national law.

According to notes, the stem cells that will specifically be utilized are umbilical cord blood stem cells, as Cabinet proceeds with this initiative “using ethical and humane methods”.

  5. While the idea of stem cell manufacturing has had its controversies globally, it’s promising that Antigua and Barbuda is stressing ‘ethical and humane methods’ from umbilical cord blood. If they truly stick to those parameters and legal frameworks, this could be a legitimate boost for our wellness tourism. The proof will be in the implementation and oversight.
