The police seized close to one hundred thousand dollars worth of cannabis at the V.C.Bird International Airport on Thursday, 11 January.
The controlled substance, weighing 16 lbs, was discovered inside the Transit Cargo area at the airport. It is valued EC$96,000. This is the first drug seizure at the airport for 2024.
In 2023, the police and customs seized approximately 645.5 pounds of cannabis, valued at EC$ 3,880,855 at the V.C. Bird International Airport and Deep Water Harbour.
Four people were arrested and charged for drug offences in three of the seizures made at the Deep Water Harbour.
Also, the police seized 250 rounds of 9mm ammunition at Deep Water Harbour in February of last year.
I thought Gassy marijuana field should be providing the medical and the recreational marijuana for Antigua and Barbuda. The field has been cultivating marijuana for a while now and we should have enough supplies to meet the Antigua demand.
