The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party chairman says it is through the efforts of the Antigua and Barbuda Trades and Labour Union that the working people of this country have been liberated from many conditions.
The AT&LU is celebrating its 85th anniversary, and Greene, in his congratulatory message, Greene highlighted the union’s significance in shaping the landscape of labor rights, the enactment of laws, and the establishment of industrial order in Antigua and Barbuda.
He said that over the years, the AT&LU has been a staunch advocate for workers’ rights, pivotal in establishing frameworks for peaceful negotiations with employers.
According to Greene, this commitment has led to improved terms and conditions, resulting in elevated earnings and a higher standard of living for all.
Greene added that the ATLU’s dedication to responsible trade unionism has significantly contributed to the stable and progressive industrial environment in Antigua and Barbuda.
He said this stability has benefited workers and employers and fostered an atmosphere conducive to attracting and sustaining local and foreign investment.
The private sector acknowledges that our country’s system is fair to all parties, thanks to the efforts of the ATLU.
“We, in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, recognize and deeply appreciate the pivotal role played by the ATLU in our political movement. The structure of our party stands on the strong pillars built by the ATLU, which seamlessly transitioned the fight for workers’ rights from the industrial sphere into the broader political and governance space,” Greene said
Furthermore, he said there exists a natural familial link between the ATLU and the ABLP, a relationship that has been instrumental in the progressive advancement of our nation and the social and economic betterment of our people.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we pay tribute to the ATLU for its significant and indispensable contribution to our national development. Congratulations to the ATLU on 85 years of dedicated service, and may it continue to serve the people of our beloved Antigua and Barbuda for many more years to come,” he added
