Just two days into her vacation when an 86-year-old woman from Canada tragically drowned while swimming at a beach.

The tourist, who had been staying at a resort, went for a swim around 11 am on Sunday.

Unfortunately, she encountered difficulties, leading to an emergency situation. She was promptly rushed to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where, despite efforts, she was pronounced dead.

The elderly woman and her husband had arrived on the island on February 2nd to enjoy their vacation.

The local authorities are currently investigating the incident, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the precise cause of her untimely death.
