Prime Minister Gaston Browne

Prime Minister Gaston Browne is currently taking proactive measures to tackle the problem of violence against young people.

He says he has been actively seeking out new strategies to address this issue and has even drawn upon his own personal experiences to inform his approach.

In fact, just last Saturday, PM Browne gave a firsthand account of his direct intervention with a gang in the Point and Villa Area.

His efforts demonstrate a strong commitment to finding tangible solutions and making a positive impact on the community.

“I engaged them and got them to reform somewhat. Most of them got work, Hammer Pump even got a job at the Port and even though he had a good job at the Port, he push herb, got caught and lost his job,” Browne said.

During the conversation, he brought up the fact that a group of individuals who had a history of getting into conflicts during different events were later involved in organizing his J’ouvert celebration.

This decision was made based on their previous involvement in similar events and the hope that they could bring their experience to the table.
