Road Improvements Head of 4th SIDS Conference

Lionel Max Hurst

The Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister Lionel Max Hurst has announced that a section of the road leading to and from the America University of Antigua (AUA) will undergo improvements ahead of the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) scheduled for May.

The main objective of the upgrade is to alleviate traffic congestion caused by the thousands of expected visitors during the conference.

The section of the road that will be improved is the one leading from the corner of the America University of Antigua compound westward towards Cedar Grove.

The intention is to have some of the traffic diverted from Jabberwock Road, which has been a cause for concern among the public. To minimize congestion, it will not be necessary to have all of the traffic flow along Jabberwock Road.

The government will also be utilizing private land west of the AUA, including some of Mr. Shoul’s land, which has been agreed upon orally.

The 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States, which is expected to attract high-profile dignitaries, including heads of governments and states, will be held on the island from May 27th to the 30th.
