Students at YMCA. Not the real event

By Zaya Williams

Eighteen-year-old Jaheim Mannix and 19-year-old Ackeilo Bell have entered not-guilty pleas for a charge of firing shots at an Ottos Comprehensive School sporting event.

They are believed to have discharged a firearm in a public place, specifically Stapleton Lane near the YMCA Sports Complex.

The principal of Ottos Comprehensive School, Foster Roberts, expressed concern last week, stating that the incident traumatized teachers and students.

The school had to cancel the remainder of their week-long activities to ensure everyone’s safety.

On the following day, less than 80% of students and teachers turned up for what should have been a typical day.

The two youngsters appeared in the St. John’s Magistrates Court on Tuesday, and we were remanded to prison after denying the allegations.

They will stand trial on March 21.
