Minor charged with shooting with intent to murder, remanded

By Zaya Williams

A 14-year-old boy has been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison after appearing before the Child Justice Board on a charge of shooting with intent to murder.

The Villa resident is connected to an incident that also involves two older teens, Jaheim Mannix, 18, and Ackeilo Bell, 19, who were remanded in the Magistrates Court previously.

The incident occurred on February 14 at Stapleton Lane near the YMCA Sports Complex, where students from Ottos Comprehensive School were participating in sports activities.

The sound of  gunshots disrupted the games, leading to the cancellation of the school’s week-long activities for safety reasons.

Mannix and Bell, represented by lawyer Michael Archibald, pleaded not guilty to discharging a gun in public during his court appearance before Magistrate Dexter Wason.

Their case is scheduled to be heard today.
