Commonwealth Day 2024 will be celebrated under the theme “One Resilient Future”.

The calendar of events was launched at the government house on Thursday.

Governor general Sir Rodney Williams says this year’s theme underscores the strength, unity and shared commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future.

“As we reflect on our shared history of values and aspirations within the commonwealth, it becomes evident that our collective strength lies in our diversity and our ability to face challenges with resilience.”

“The theme for this years event encourages us to embrace the inter-connectedness and to work collaboratively towards a future that leaves no one behind,” Sir Rodney remarked.

He added that “resilience has become a cornerstone of  our journey as a nation and as members of the commonwealth we have faced adversities, we have learnt from them and I think we have emerged stronger.”

Our ability to adapt to change and to support one another and find innovative solutions to global challenges is a testament to the enduring spirit that unites us.”

The Governor General noted that in the face of current global challenges including the ongoing recovery from the unprecedented events of the past years, the commonwealth of nations stand together to build a future that is characterized by sustainability, inclusivity, and mutual support.

”The Commonwealth Day events provide us with a platform to celebrate our shared achievement, acknowledge the progress we have made and reinforce our commitment to a common future that embraces diversity and promotes sustainable development,” he further stated.

The Commonwealth Day 2024 activities include a service at the Ebenezer Methodist church on Sunday, on the 11th, the Parade and Flag Raising Ceremony from the Multipurpose Centre to Government House, and the youth event FLOE on March 16 and 17th.

Commonwealth Day will be celebrated on March 11 by 56 commonwealth nations.
