Detained suspect threatens officers

By Zya Williams

On February 27, a suspect detained at the Parham Police Station reportedly threatened several officers with bodily harm, including threats against one officer’s children.

The suspect’s behavior reportedly escalated while in the station’s cell, where he became violent, kicking the door and using profanity.

Despite warnings from officers, the suspect is alleged to have persisted in his aggressive behavior, claiming he was unfairly detained after defending himself in a previous altercation.

He alleged that he had been assaulted and had only acted in self-defense, taking away a knife and using it against the other party.

During the process of restraining the suspect, at least three officers were reportedly involved in a struggle to handcuff and shackle him.

Even after being restrained, the suspect continued to make threats, particularly targeting one constable whom he threatened to harm when they met outside the station.

The incident, which also involved derogatory remarks towards another officer, is currently under investigation.

Despite the suspect’s threats and defiance, the police are taking appropriate actions to address the situation.
