The Ministry of Education is gearing up to observe Education Month during the entire month of March.
This is an annual event where the ministry aims to bring the public’s attention to the many developments happening within the education system in Antigua and Barbuda.
According to Clare Browne, the Director of Education, the ministry will conduct several activities to highlight what they are doing in education.
These activities include training sessions for new teachers, hosting an International College Fair on March 5, and conducting interviews with the media on March 1.
In addition to these activities, the ministry has two special events that they want to highlight this year.
The first event is the interschool garden competition, which is currently underway. The competition involves fifteen schools, and the judging is set to take place from March 11-15 in Antigua and on March 18 in Barbuda.
On March 26, an Expo will showcase the produce from these gardens. The second event is the observance of World Mathematics Day on March 14, where the ministry will host a public forum on mathematics.
The official start of Education Month will begin with a church service on Monday, March 1, at the St. John’s Pentecostal House of Restoration.
During the service, a student from the Antigua Grammar School will deliver the message, and Education Minister Daryll Matthew will provide welcome remarks. However, young people will conduct the entire service.
Overall, Education Month is an excellent opportunity for the Ministry of Education to highlight the significant developments happening in the education system in Antigua and Barbuda.
