Almost two hundred female police officers from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda participated in a one-day retreat designed to empower and inspire them.
The retreat was held at the American University of Antigua-AUA, under the theme: “Inspiring Inclusion Through Diversity and Unity.”
A cadre of female facilitators from various professional backgrounds on several topics, with a focus on developing and empowering female officers who aspire to become leaders.
To begin the day’s activities, a brief open ceremony was held which was attended by Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Everton Jeffers, and other senior officers.
During the ceremony, Mr. Jeffers reminded the officers of the crucial role they play in the development of the police force and challenged them to inspire each other to become better leaders within the organization.
The topics were presented at the retreat include: How to Handle Mental Challenges that Result from Inequality and Lack of Diversity in the Working Environment; Managing Your Finances in an Inflating World; and Team Building Embracing Difference.
The event ran from 9 am to 5 pm, and last year’s retreat was held under the theme: “Empowering Women in Law Enforcement.”
