Looks like the world had a collective meltdown when Facebook and Instagram went on an unexpected break.
People were logging out left, right and center, while some even feared they were hacked. But don’t worry, it wasn’t a cyber apocalypse – just a “technical issue”.
Meta does have a status page for its business products, but unfortunately, the rest of us aren’t so lucky. Don’t you just love it when social media platforms decide to take a day off?
On a more serious note, on Tuesday, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger, experienced a technical issue that caused an hours-long outage.
The issue was resolved as quickly as possible, and a Meta spokesman apologized for any inconvenience it may have caused.
While the outage appeared to be resolved for many users, some still reported having trouble with the platforms.
According to Down Detector, a website that tracks user reports of telecommunication and internet disruptions, more than 25,000 users in the United States reported issues with Facebook around 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
This number rose to over 538,000 reports of trouble with the website by 10:20 a.m.
The majority of complaints were related to logging in to the website, while others were related to the app or website itself.
Despite the widespread disruptions, Meta was able to resolve the issue and get its platforms back up and running.
