Eighteen-year-old Mitchy Spencer Jr. of Union Road Hatton was given bail earlier this week when he made his first appearance in court charged with larceny of a vehicle and receiving over 100 items.

He was arrested and charged over the weekend following an investigation into the theft of a vehicle and various items belonging to a man by the name of Reginald Peterson.

This arrest Peterson, a retired teacher and former officer of the Youth Skills Development Programme, experienced youth crime more than once in a short space of time.

Among the items the defendant is believed to have received were one Samsung Phone valued at $900, one iPhone valued at $1,800, and one ZTE Smartphone valued at $475, among others, totaling $16,938.15. The items included electronics, clothing, food items, medicine, cleaning items, bank cards and tools.

The complainants car was reportedly stolen while delivering food to the needy on February 21.

Spencer Jnr was granted bail in the amount of $30,000 with a $3000 cash component on Monday.

If he meets all the requirements for bail, he will be released until his next court date, May 15.
