The murder trial involving Kelly Friday, which commenced on Wednesday, has featured several witnesses providing accounts of the events that transpired on September 11, 2021, at Pointe Wharf.

It is alleged that on that date, Friday fatally stabbed his uncle, Selwyn Mannix, following an argument over $50 that Mannix claimed Friday owed him.

Testimony from the first day of the trial revealed that the altercation began when Mannix grabbed a nearly 7-foot stick, commonly used in fishing pots, and struck Friday on the head multiple times until the stick broke.

According to witness testimonies, Friday then produced a sharp weapon, believed to be a knife, and proceeded to stab his uncle multiple times.

On the second day of the trial, a witness provided additional details and even demonstrated the events to the court.

He recounted seeing Mannix beating Friday with a stick and observed Friday stabbing Mannix in the side before turning him over and stabbing him in the abdomen.

Other witnesses corroborated these accounts, noting that Friday appeared emotional during the altercation.

After two witnesses testified on Friday morning, the trial was adjourned until Monday for further proceedings.
