Jewelle Gittens, founder of Made by Jewelle, took home the top prize of $3500 in the “Pitch Your Business” competition, held to mark International Women’s Day 2024.

Organized by the Directorate of Gender Affairs (DoGA) in collaboration with Caribbean Union Bank and the British High Commission, the event aimed to empower female entrepreneurs by providing a platform to showcase their business ideas.

The competition, which saw 33 applicants vying for the top spot, featured a panel of judges who selected six finalists to compete in the finals at the John E St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre.

Jewelle’s non-profit cake business, which aims to give back to the community, impressed the judges and secured her the top prize.

Christal Clashing, founder of Splashing with Clashing, took second place and received $2000, while Lily Rose Schofield, creator of the Beehive Learning Centre, came in third place, earning $1000.

The cash prizes, provided by Caribbean Union Bank and the British High Commission, will help kickstart these women’s businesses and pave the way for their entrepreneurial journeys.
