The Office of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda is celebrating Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s 25 years of exceptional public service as an elected member of the House of Representatives.

Prime Minister Browne first won a seat in the St. John’s City West Constituency during the General Election held on March 9, 1999.

Since then, he has been successful in five consecutive elections, making him the only Prime Minister in Antigua and Barbuda’s history to have won three consecutive elections. That’s quite an impressive feat!

Most recently, Prime Minister Browne secured his third term in office on January 18, 2023, during Antigua and Barbuda’s general election.

As the leader of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), a position he has held since 2014, his contributions have made a significant impact on the country’s growth and development.

Despite facing numerous challenges during his tenure, including the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma, the establishment of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Browne has always remained steadfast in his leadership.

Born in Potters on February 9, 1967, Prime Minister Browne was raised in the poverty-stricken communities of Point and Grays Farm.

He completed his secondary education before leaving Antigua for the United Kingdom, where he completed degree programs in Banking and Finance.

Before entering politics full-time, he worked in the banking sector for several years and rose to become a senior bank manager.

In April 2021, Prime Minister Browne added the profession of farmer to his long list of accolades when he started Farmer DG Browne Company Limited with his two adult sons.

The farm produces livestock, fresh seasoning, ground provision, and coconuts.

Prime Minister Browne’s contributions have made a significant difference in the lives of many, and he continues to lead the country with vision and purpose.

What good has he done for the public and country for the 25 years? As a minister of planning he was sucked at it. Now the Prime Minister he is worse. God grant us better leaders who care for the people and country, and a leader that put God over things and humble to the people he/she are called to govern.
