High Court Judge Renee Williams presided over a hearing on Friday regarding Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s application to dismiss the defense filed by Pearl Quinn-Williams, the United Progressive Party’s (UPP) caretaker for St John’s Rural North.
Browne is suing Quinn-Williams for defamation related to a placard she held during a protest in January.
The protest was organized in response to the government’s clearing of lands surrounding the Dunbars Agricultural Station for housing development.
The application to dismiss Quinn-Williams’ defense was presented by Browne’s Attorney, David Dorsett.
Quinn-Williams was given until April 5th to respond to the application. The Judge is expected to rule on the matter on May 15th.
