Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Pearl Quinn
Justice Carlos Michael has dismissed a court application filed by Prime Minister Gaston Browne‘s Attorney, Dr. David Dorsett, to strike out Pearl Quinn’s defense in the Gaston Browne v Pearl Quinn defamation matter. He believed the decision today, Friday.
Prime Minister Browne filed a defamation case against Quinn, the United Progressive Party caretaker for St John’s Rural North, after she held a placard during a picket and made accusations against PM Browne that he claimed was defamatory.
Quinn maintains that she made her statement referring to the Gaston Browne administration, but Browne says she was referring to him personally.
Attorney Dorsett argued that Quinn’s defenses of truth, justification, and fair comment should be dismissed because Pearl Quinn had no chance of success and judgment should be entered in favor of PM Browne. His application was denied on all grounds.
Quinn was represented by Attorneys Harold Lovell and Wayne Benjamin Marsh.
The matter will proceed according to the court’s calendar.
