The north side of Rat Island to be developed as an extension of the cruise port

21 March 2024 - 08:45

The Cabinet has made a decision to expand the cruise port by developing the north side of Rat Island.

This new project is expected to attract yachts and small cruise ships and generate a significant return on investment.

The cost of the project has not yet been determined, but the expected benefits are deemed to outweigh the expenditure.

The plan involves dredging the area to allow vessels with shallower draughts than the ones currently utilized by the Heritage Quay docks to access the port.

This expansion will create an opportunity to bring in more tourists and boost the local economy.
