Dominican national Cliff Darroux, who resides in Antigua, is facing charges of possession and cultivation of cannabis plants.
According to the laws of Antigua and Barbuda, a person should not have more than four weed plants in their possession at a time but Darroux was reportedly found with a total of 41 plants at his home.
The plants weighed 40 pounds and were valued at $80,000.
When Darroux appeared in court earlier this week, he was placed on a $100,000 bond and was told to pay $10,000 in cash to the state.
He also had to surrender his Dominican passport and report to a police station closest to him three days a week.
Once he secured and maintains his bail conditions, he is free until the conclusion of his case.
His next hearing is on May 29.
